Billon invited to the Presidential Palace

Published

Billon pitched its idea of financial revolution before the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, Deputy PM and Minister of Development Mateusz Morawiecki, and top public companies at the second edition of the “Start-ups in the Palace” event.

This year’s edition of the event, held in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw on March 14, presented the most promising young Polish companies operating in the B2B model. 241 start-ups signed up to participate in the meeting. 10 of them, including Billon, were chosen for a 4-minute pitch to a group of investors, business angels and representatives of corporations.

Andrzej Horoszczak, Billon founder and CEO, said at the meeting: “The time to change thinking on how we use money is now. European Central Bank and Bank of Japan work together on introducing digital currency that in 2022 can be used as widely as cash. Cecilia Skingsley, Deputy Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, announced Sweden will adopt the digital krona in two years. Thanks to our technology and us all, Poland can reach that goal in one year and stay at the front of financial revolution.”

Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland, said in his speech: “Start-ups are indispensable for Poland’s growth. Let us remember that big global firms have not grown from large companies. They grew from small ventures set up by friends. Only one in ten start-ups can turn out successful but this one success may decide if the country becomes a European and world leader.”

Billon, together with other companies present at the event, received as a gift a special “passport” from the President The “passport” gives the right to participate in one of the economic overseas missions of the Polish head of state.
